Reed Exhibitions announces major mining expo for South Australia

Reed Exhibitions has announced that a major mining exhibition will be held in South Australia in 2009 – adding to its Australia-wide portfolio of mining events – and servicing a region which is set to see enormous growth in mining activity over the next 10 to 15 years.

Mining & Energy South Australia (M&E SA) will be held from October 27-29, 2009 at the Adelaide Showground, and is being supported by the SA Government’s Department of Trade and Economic Development.

According to John Gorton, Reed Exhibitions’ Group Exhibition Director, South Australia is widely recognised as one of global mining’s ‘hotspots’, with potentially 40 mines operating in the state by 2020.

“No other Australian state has a more positive outlook for future mining growth,” he said.

“BHP Billiton's multi-billion dollar Olympic Dam Expansion Project – currently in advanced pre-feasibility stage – is set to become the world's largest open cut mine.

“Currently, there is around $13 billion in minerals and energy projects planned or underway in the state – and the government’s target is to reach $4 billion in mineral production by 2014, double the current production value,” said Mr Gorton.

“With this massive growth forecast over the next decade and beyond, there is strong demand for a quality mining exhibition – along with associated events – that can bring suppliers of mining equipment and services together with miners, exploration companies and contractors."

The Deputy Premier and Minister for Industry and Trade, Kevin Foley says the SA Government is supporting M&E SA 2009 as it will focus international attention on the State’s surging mining sector.

Reed Exhibitions’ John Gorton said the company had surveyed potential exhibitors about interest in M&E SA 2009, and had received a very positive response.

“Early indications are that demand for this inaugural event will be very high, so companies considering participation are advised to book early to secure their stand,” he said.

“Our venue at the Adelaide Showgrounds is outstanding, with extensive indoor and outdoor exhibition space, close proximity to the city, and with excellent infrastructure including parking and catering.”

Sales for M&E SA 2009 will start in July 2008, with the Reed Mining Events team on hand at the Queensland Mining and Engineering exhibition in late July to take bookings for all its 2008 and 2009 shows.

Reed’s launch of M&E SA is the latest in its Mining Events structured calendar, providing CAB-audited, professionally run mining industry exhibitions around Australia tailored to the demands of both suppliers and buyers.

M&E SA will join Reed Exhibitions’ other Australian mining events, which include Asia-Pacific’s International Mining Exhibition (AIMEX), to be held in September 2011 in Sydney; Queensland Mining & Engineering Exhibition (QME) in July 2008 and again in July 2010; Goldfields Mining Expo (GME), Kalgoorlie, October 2008 and 2010; the Mining & Energy New South Wales Exhibition (M&E NSW), Hunter Valley, September 2009; and the just-announced Queensland Resources Expo (QREX) to be held in Rockhampton in July 2009.

“With M&E SA 2009 joining our other established Reed Mining Events of AIMEX, QME, GME, M&E NSW, and now QREX, we are delivering a structured four-year program of quality mining exhibitions covering the four key mining states of Western Australia, Queensland, NSW and South Australia,” Gorton said.
